Major Sport Event of the Year

This category celebrates standout major sporting events held in the Middle East that have demonstrated excellence in execution, impact, and legacy.

An international event organised in one or several host countries, regions or cities and attended by different national and international delegations. Major sporting events have a high international media profile, welcome several thousands of people including supporters, journalists, technical teams and officials.

Judges will evaluate the event’s ability to deliver an exceptional experience for athletes, fans, and stakeholders, considering factors such as organisation, innovation, and operational excellence.

Submissions should highlight key achievements such as record-breaking attendance, successful engagement campaigns, and contributions to the promotion of sport in the region. Judges will also consider the event’s lasting impact, including its role in enhancing the Middle East’s reputation as a global sporting hub, fostering community involvement, or creating economic or cultural benefits.

Entries should include measurable outcomes, testimonials, and any innovative practices that set the event apart.

The event must operate in one or more of the following Middle Eastern countries: United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and or Syria between 1st January 2024 – 31st December 2024.
